Dinner, drinks, and a ghost at the next table.
Short episodes about haunted restaurants and bars: the New Orleans place that sets a table for its ghost every night, the Newport tavern that has been pouring for 350 years, and the Philadelphia cafe where a Russian occultist swore a white dog saved her leg.

Week 4
White Dog Cafe
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
In 1875 the brownstone at 3420 Sansom Street was home to Helena Blavatsky, the Russian occultist who would found the Theosophical Society that September. She was married there in April, gravely ill with a leg she refused to let the doctors amputate, and she credited her recovery to a white dog that slept across it each night: "Fancy my leg going to the spirit land before me!" The house sat inside Philadelphia's Spiritualist scandal of the day, with a pirate's ghost supposedly calling her his fine Spanish wench. In 1983 Judy Wicks opened a cafe there and named it for the dog, after an old woman knocked one night asking whether this was where the great Madame Blavatsky had lived.
